Have your say – complete the Arun District Residents’ SurveyArun District Council would like your help in completing an Arun district residents’ survey, so that we can evaluate how we are delivering services to you, our residents. We have written to a randomly selected group of residents and asked them to complete the survey, but we would like you to have the opportunity to have your say too. In the survey we ask about the cleanliness of the district and your overall views on the services the council provides, particularly how you view our performance over the last year. In Arun, you may notice stencils of yellow fish popping up next to some of the drains carrying surface water into the sea. Our aim is to remind residents, visitors and business owners how pollution can travel directly into the ocean. The presence of the yellow fish is part of a national campaign to raise awareness of the importance of keeping the country’s bathing waters clean, supported by the mantra ‘only rain down the drain!’ Follow this link to learn more Combined Cleansing Services Award updateIf you haven’t already heard, Biffa has been awarded the council’s Combined Cleansing Services Contract after a rigorous and competitive procurement exercise. Biffa’s tender provided significant assurance and solid proposals in all areas of the evaluation criteria, including the changes to waste collection necessary under the government’s ‘Simpler Recycling’ legislation, which will require the introduction of a weekly food waste collection for all residents in 2026. Our Cleansing Service will now start the important work of setting up the new contract and new services ready for 1 Feb 2026 and communicating these changes to residents. As well as the roll out of a weekly food waste collection service, refuse collections will move to a fortnightly frequency from a supplied 180 litre bin.
