9 mile guided walk starts at 10.30am Saturday 24th May 2025

Ford to Hunston Canal Society

The free guided walk will be from Barnham to Chichester canal basin (one way)following mainly the route of old canal towpath, take approximately 4 hours. There will be optional finishes close to bus stops to cater for shorter distances you want to walk (5.5mi - SU907027*1, 7mi - SU893018*2 or 9 miles to finish). Other walks starting at the canal are also available, see our walking booklet. Many remains of the canal are still visible along the route, some with information display boards. An interesting and informative walking booklet has been written by canal supporters and will be available to purchase on the day.

There will be free parking, information displays and also refreshments (hot drinks/snacks) available to purchase at the start of the walk. (* - OS map ref.)

Car parking at start available from 9.30 to 16.30 only on the day. To book a place and details of car parking if required, optional finish points with connecting travel and starting point location send email to chi2fordguidedwalk@hotmail.com giving your names and a phone number.

Public transport - nearest Barnham Rail Station and buses. Optionally you may wish to return by train via Chichester Rail Station. Donations welcome.
