A public consultation on review and renewal of Arun’s Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) for dogs, will commence 15 July 2026 and run to 29 July 2026.

The existing PSPO dog controls include:

• cleaning up after dogs
• dogs on leads in certain areas, or when directed
• dog exclusion zones (for example, play areas)
• seasonal exclusion (for example, some beaches)

Possible changes include:

• new restrictions in water play areas
• new restrictions to some parks and reserves

A report will be presented to the Environment Committee on 17 September 2026 detailing the findings of the consultation and for a decision on the PSPOs.
