We are writing to invite you to share, and take part in, the public and stakeholder consultation on the draft West Sussex Sexual Health Strategic Framework 2026-2031 which runs from Monday, 14 September 2026 until 11.55pm on Sunday, 18 October 2026. The Framework sets out five priorities to improve sexual and reproductive health and wellbeing and reducing inequalities across the county. 

We want West Sussex to be a place where everyone can enjoy good sexual and reproductive health, make informed choices, and access high-quality, inclusive services when they need them throughout their life.

Everyone in West Sussex, including young people (16+), professionals, and local organisations, is invited to take part and have their say.

The Framework draws on evidence from the West Sussex Sexual Health Needs Assessment 2025(External link) which includes perspectives from residents, communities, and professionals.

We welcome your support in sharing the survey within your organisation, and with those you may be working with or supporting. You can do this by sharing any of our social media posts, as well as an article you are welcome to use together with an image (attached.)

We would also like to draw your attention to two resources you may find useful, as the consultation may well prompt discussions with service users and colleagues about sexual and reproductive health. 

1.                Dedicated online website resource

SAFE (Sex Aware, Feel Empowered) is West Sussex County Council's sexual health campaign website. The site is regularly updated and brings together trusted information, practical advice, and links to local services in one place. It helps you, your colleagues, and service users quickly find sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services across the county and access the support they need.

2.                New Sexual Health Training for Professionals

 
We are also pleased to announce that our evidence-based MECC (Making Every Contact Count) programme now includes a dedicated sexual health training offer. 

Through five short modules, professionals can build knowledge of key sexual health topics, including STIs, contraception, HIV and HIV prevention, and safe and healthy relationships. The training supports staff to recognise opportunities to support others, develop confidence in having respectful and non-judgemental conversations, and signpost individuals to appropriate services for advice, testing, treatment, and support.
