Alexandra Arts Centre update on construction work

Over the summer, residents will have seen some big changes at the Alexandra Arts Centre in Bognor Regis as the building continues to take shape.

Externally, the new brickwork, windows and roofing have now been completed. Inside, the main auditorium and stage area are starting to look the part, with decoration work underway and the character of these exciting spaces beginning to come through. Studios two, three and four are also taking shape as the transformation of the building continues.

Residents urged to ‘Stop the Spark’ by keeping batteries, vapes and electricals out of household bins

West Sussex County Council has joined forces with its waste contractor Biffa, West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service and environmental education charity Wastebuster to encourage residents to think before they throw away batteries, vapes and electrical items.

The new “Stop the Spark” campaign aims to reduce the growing number of fires caused by people incorrectly disposing of batteries and electricals with a simple message: If it has a plug, battery or cable, don’t bin it.

Government pauses Local Government Reorganisation programme

The government has confirmed that it is pausing its proposals for Local Government Reorganisation in West Sussex while it carries out a wider review of the programme. No timeline has been given to local authorities as to when the review is to be carried out or when it will be concluded.

Following updated legal advice, previously announced decisions affecting Essex, Hampshire, Norfolk and Suffolk have been withdrawn. The government will also reassess proposals in several other areas, including West Sussex, with further progress put on hold until the review is complete.
